The nine tailed beasts in Naruto were split from Kaguya Otsutsuki's sacred tree. The Sage of Six Paths personally named them when he divided the ten-tailed beast using Yin-Yang Release. In comparison, the zero-tail is an ugly and repulsive creature that cannot be compared to the other tailed beasts. From Shukaku to Kurama, the names of the tailed beasts are quite strange.
